Of the two of us that make up Mai Tai Photo, I (Elvee) am definitely the bigger sports fan.  Now that the Chargers are done for the season, I wait impatiently for my boys of spring and summer, the Padres.  Last week the Padres held an Open House for prospective season ticket holders.  And though we didn’t purchase season tickets this year, we did take part in some of the festivities.  Baseball off-season always seems so long, so it was great to get out to the ballpark and see some of the team’s young players.  In a couple of weeks we’ll be at Petco Park again, this time for Fan Fest.  For now here are a few photos from the Open House evening.  Go, Padres!

Is it too early to start humming “Take Me Out to the Ballgame?”

When the new year began, we knew we needed to do more scouting and find what would become our favorite places to shoot.  To that end, it’s been fun for me and Dustin to get out and visit parts of San Diego that are new to us.  Yesterday, after meeting with a super fun bride-to-be in Poway, we spent an hour or so at Old Poway Park, discovering some new photo spots.  It’s frequented by families, because one of the biggest attractions of this park is its train!  Just wanted to share a few images with you from yesterday.

Later in the day we ended up at Balboa Park, which is full of photo gems.  I know it’s been in maybe millions of photos, but we are drawn back to it because of the Spanish-influenced architecture and all its nooks and crannies.  Shooting there yesterday made us both long to be back in Madrid or Barcelona.  At dusk it’s especially romantic, and we ran into no fewer than 3 sets of brides and grooms, plus Megan and Cheyne from the most recent season of The Amazing Race. :)

After all the recent rain, it was a gorgeous day for a wedding!  Glad these couples (and their photographers) were able to have beautiful weather on their wedding day.

We didn’t realize until later that Megan and Cheyne from The Amazing Race made it into this shot below that Dustin took. :)

Andiamo al Mercato!

Author: Elvee

If you’re lucky enough to live near a farmer’s market, you know what kinds of awesome fruits, vegetables and prepared foods you can often find at them.  We are fortunate to live about 10 minutes away from one of San Diego’s best farmer’s markets, in my opinion.  Little Italy’s Mercato happens every Saturday, and two weekends ago we stopped by for some fresh veggies.  Just wanted to share a few images from our morning.  If you’re in the area, I hope you get a chance to check it out!  Bring your dog, too; there are so many sweet dogs that visit the Mercato with their owners! Maybe we’ll see you there– I’ll be the one scoping out the fresh pasta. ;)

Here are some of the lovely and delicious items we found on the day we went:

The Mercato is also across from Amici Park. Looks like a good photo location!
