Taking a break from processing photos from the weekend, though there will be plenty of sneak peeks to come!  This weekend we spent a lot of time out and about, and it’s always great to get out and enjoy our beautiful city.  We spent a lot of time at Balboa Park, where the weather was gorgeous, and there were a lot of people out.  We ended Saturday at Extraordinary Desserts at the edge of Little Italy.  I wanted to share a few photos of the place, because it was such a delight to all senses!

We stopped in for an early dinner and ended the meal with their Pumpkin New York Cheesecake, pictured below with a little gold leaf embellishment.  Dustin was happy because he got to try Maui Brewing Co.’s Coconut Porter, which was featured on an episode of  “Three Sheets” that we saw recently.

This is the sight that greets you upon entering.  Doesn’t that display case make you want to just skip over everything and have dessert first?!

The dining area is modern and inviting.  We were lucky to stop in early enough that it wasn’t too crowded yet.

I’m back, this time with a little taste of the Weeks’ family session at Heritage Park in Oceanside.  We walked there on a pretty Sunday morning, and it was a great place to shoot!  We had never been there before, and we had the whole place to ourselves! The friendly caretaker introduced their dog, Muffin, to his French poodle, and a fun time was had by all. Afterward, I got a couple of shots of Lee’s other ‘baby,’ his classic 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380 SEL that he keeps in tip-top condition.  And you can bet he knows all the specs on that beauty.  First, a sneak peek at some of their photos!

Muffin was super well-behaved, though, and she was a great model!

Didn’t I tell you we had some busy weekends coming up?  This past weekend was exactly that!  First off, a baby shower!

Joan and Delfin are our friends who were also our photographers for our Maui wedding and San Diego reception.  They are going to soon welcome baby Jaclyn to their family, and for their shower, Dustin created a two-tier white cake with passionfruit mousse and coconut filling.  It evoked summer even though we’re already halfway into November.  As befitting a tiny princess-to-be, it was covered with pink–flowers, rosettes, ribbon!

We can’t wait to meet her when she is due to arrive in January. Delfin and Joan are already great parents to son Nathan, and how exciting that they’ll soon have a baby girl! Here’s mom Joan ready to cut into the cake:

After the shower, our weekend was far from over.  Next stop, Oceanside, to celebrate our friend Steve’s 30-somethingeth birthday at Harney Sushi.  That is one of the swankiest sushi joints I’ve ever been to! It felt more like a club than a restaurant, and my favorite detail was that the sushi chefs were wearing red ties.   I would love to stop in there during the day and photograph the restaurant in the daytime!
